D2 House

D2 House is a modest residence located in the suburbs of West Jakarta, designed to balance simplicity, comfort, and spatial efficiency. The façade features breeze blocks that offer privacy while shielding the interior from the harsh eastern sun. At night, the pattern creates a gentle lantern effect, giving the house a warm and inviting glow from the street.

A small backyard is carefully integrated into the layout to encourage cross ventilation and provide a calming outdoor space surrounded by greenery. The design ensures that every room receives natural light, enhancing the sense of openness and well-being throughout the house.

A linear skylight runs along the ceiling to bring in daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting. Exposed concrete beams cross the skylight, creating visual contrast against the smooth white-painted walls. This interplay of texture continues in the staircase, where polished concrete steps provide a raw yet refined touch. The staircase landing appears to float just above the floor, adding a subtle sculptural element to the space.

In the bathroom, the use of polished concrete extends to the vanity counter, which supports the basin and flows seamlessly through a glass shower screen. This extension forms a ledge within the shower area, offering practical storage for toiletries without breaking the material continuity.

Outside, the carport comfortably fits two vehicles, completing this efficient and understated home that emphasizes thoughtful details and material honesty.
